By using the color code and gauge size you will be able to wire your car without using labeled wires and thereby saving you money since you only have to get certain colors that work for multiple components eg 16 Pink for ignition circuits. This is meant as a helpful guide to wiring your car with the basics. This is by no means absolutely complete as Chevy changed things here and there as well as had different color codes for options such as Power Windows or Air Conditioning. They should be able to figure out if the component needs to be replaced or if there is a short or some other problem with your El Camino.This is a list of the Chevy Color code as recognized by most wiring companies. ![]() If checking and replacing the fuse for the component in question doesn’t work, we recommend seeking assistance from a trusted professional mechanic. If you need to replace a blown fuse in your El Camino, make sure you replace it with one that has the same amperage as the blown fuse. Some components may have multiple fuses, so make sure you check all of the fuses that are linked to the component in question. If your El Camino has many options like a sunroof, navigation, heated seats, etc, the more fuses it has.
